PROTECT YOUR POOL FROM CORROSION WITH THE GERIT SYSTEMS DESIGN & TECH COLLECTION

In recent years, the use of salt in swimming pools has become widespread. As well as offering a different swimming experience from that of traditional chlorine pools, saltwater pools are also known for their many benefits for health and the environment. But it is not all upside.

This new trend has brought with it a substantial increase in corrosion problems. If the pool plant and the systems installed in the pool are not built with the right protection, salt can cause rapid deterioration of the materials, leading to damage that can run into thousands of euros.

GERIT knows the challenge of adapting its products to saltwater well, and has met it with innovative solutions and advanced technologies. In this article, we look at how the products of the Design & Tech Collection have been adapted for use in saline environments, guaranteeing maximum protection against corrosion.

The corrosion challenge in saline environments

Saltwater, increasingly common in swimming pools, has a corrosive effect on most materials. Sodium chloride greatly accelerates deterioration, causing significant structural damage if it is not managed correctly.

Problems such as corrosion, pitting (the formation of tiny holes on the metal surface) and oxidation are extremely common in these environments.

Metal components such as screws, bolts and trims can corrode quickly if they are not properly protected or made from suitable materials. Even ABS or other plastic covers can degrade and lose their structural integrity as a result of prolonged exposure to saltwater.

GERIT’s answer: Research and Innovation

To tackle the issue properly, we decided to test our Design & Tech Collection products in the laboratory. In doing so, we arrived at a range of solutions grounded in our direct, hands-on experience.

This study allowed us to test and refine our solutions in a controlled environment, thus guaranteeing a superior level of quality and reliability.

Being the first to test and use our own products enables us to understand and effectively resolve the issues that can emerge in everyday use. It is thanks to this intensive research and development process that we have adapted the Design & Tech Collection for use in saltwater.

Special materials and protective coatings for the Design & Tech Collection

Following our research, we decided to upgrade the entire Design & Tech Collection with materials resistant to saltwater corrosion.

The first step was to replace all screws with salt-resistant materials, guaranteeing corrosion protection superior to what the market currently offers.

We applied the same principle to GERIT flanges, using a new steel treatment inspired by offshore platform technology. This treatment provides a protective coating that delivers high, long-lasting resistance.

The new protective treatment for GERIT finishes in AISI 316L stainless steel, the use of GBZ bronze, and the other upgrades have enabled us to mark our products with the SALT PROTECTED label. This seal represents our commitment to supplying durable, corrosion-resistant products, ideal for saline environments.

The adaptation of the Design & Tech Collection for use in saltwater is an example of how innovation and research can respond effectively to the challenges of the modern industry.

GERIT’s adoption of advanced materials and innovative treatments offers numerous long-term benefits. The products of the Design & Tech Collection deliver exceptional resistance even in water with a high salt concentration, putting a definitive end to the problems of corrosion, pitting and oxidation.

Our commitment to research and development has enabled us to provide solutions that not only solve today’s problems, but also offer unprecedented product longevity and quality.

With GERIT, your pool installations will always remain protected and fully functional.
